Wait, could it be three siblings, all looking at the camera? Why, yes it is! The illusive 3 child shot...I've got three of my own and I know how hard it is for parents to get this shot. It's not always easy for me either! But we got it :)

I am so excited to give a sneak peek to the "O" family! This was their first time doing on-location custom photography. No mall, no flashbulbs, no backgrounds but the beautiful outdoors. And you know what, I think they really had a great time!

There's more than one style of family portrait that I try to get at every family session. The one above...it's great. Everyone looks good, the setting is just right, it's a great shot. But the one below - now that's the one I want on my walls. Not all my clients are like me, though...and that's ok. That's why I try to give a variety. Wonder which one the O family likes better...

I met the "A" family at our chosen location...only it was raining. Not just a little mist, but real raindrops - the kind that are a deal breaker when it comes to on-location photography. But I'm a mom of three, and I know how tough it is getting everyone dressed and ready for something like this. And seeing this family looking so cute, with a 2 year old and twin baby girls all dressed and ready to go there was no way I was going to throw in the towel! The result - a semi-indoor shoot at a local shopping plaza. And it was great!

15 families, 15 minutes a piece. What a busy day!! And what wonderful families I met from Valley Parent Preschool in Danville. A portion of the mini-session fee and print orders will go right back to their school. Here's a sneak peek image for each of the 15 families...and at the very end I had to include what might be my favorite photo of the day. Which family is it?? Look and see!

Mini-sessions are quick. The point is usually to get "THE" family shot. The one that goes on the holiday card, the one that goes above the fireplace, the one getting framed for grandma. But "THE" shot with everyone posed and looking at the camera isn't necessarily a photographer's favorite...at least not this photographer. And so I bring you my favorite shot of the day....

Jackie & Che, Married! | Brazil Room, Tilden Park, Berkeley, CA | Kim Lind on-location portrait and wedding photographer

Jackie and Che's wedding day was perfect in every way. We started at the Claremont Resort in Berkeley, where Jackie and her bridesmaids got ready. Her dress was absolutely beautiful!

The wedding took place at Tilden Park's Brazil Room in Berkeley. Lush greenery abounds there. It's an amazing venue! And what a handsome groom...

Look up "radiant bride" in the dictionary and you ought to see Jackie's picture there. She was an absolutely stunning bride. Beaming, beautiful and gracious too. No stresses, no worries, just a wonderfully happy bride. And it shows, don't you think?

So many ceremony shots, but this one I just love. I shot it through a flower arrangement, so there's some framing right around her face. You can see he's smiling, and that look on her face, eyes welled with tears...love it.

Right after the ceremony we went to the Botanical Gardens - just Jackie, Che and me - for some solo portraits. Jackie and Che went on one of their first dates here years ago, so it was not only the most gorgeous setting imaginable it also has a lot of meaning for them.

Both gardeners, Jackie and Che really love fall foliage. This was shot paparazzi style through a tree!

The bridal party wore a perfect shade of coral that worked so well for an October 1 wedding.

First dance as a married couple!

More October colors in all the details. I loved the centerpiece harvest baskets.

At every wedding I shoot, there's always a moment when I get a little choked up. And this moment, the father and daughter dance and also the mother and son dance were so touching, it was that moment for me. This is my all time favorite father/daughter dance shot.

Jackie and Che, may your life together be as beautiful as your wedding day. It was an honor to be a part of such a loving celebration!

My favorite part of this one? His tummy...

I always advise my clients to dress in simple clothes that look and feel good. Colors don't need to match perfectly, just coordinate. And it's totally fine to mix in prints and patterns, especially on kids. Don't they look great?

Daddy is a Berkeley firefighter. I've now photographed Berkeley, Oakland and San Francisco firefighter daddies with their tiny newborns! Lucky me :)

Shots like these you just can't get when they're four, five, or six weeks old. That's why I always encourage people to book their newborn sessions at under two and a half weeks if possible. In a week she just won't fit there quite like this!

Oh, do I love photographing a couple in love! Ethan and Tina got engaged last month and what fun it was to capture this time in their lives. They live and play in Alameda, which made for a great setting for an engagement photo session.

The Blue Dot Cafe and Coffee Bar is one of their frequent stops. So that's where we started...

When I saw the word "Love" on the window I couldn't resist...

Then we headed to the beach, where there were these great tall grasses. I had fun with this one!

Wardrobe change! Love the colors and the emotion here...

This is why it's called the "golden hour"

I love this! And I didn't tell her to plant one on his face either. They're just like that. Which is pretty cool to be around and lots of fun to photograph!

A little sunset romance on the beach. Shooting silhouettes is so much fun!

And this is where it officially began. Tina was at this bar when she realized he was "the one"...and from the sound of it Ethan already knew that was the case. But when he showed up at the Hobnob and she had his favorite beer waiting, well I guess it sealed the deal.

It's my goal at every engagement session to create images that will be sitting on the nightstand 45 years from now. Ethan and Tina picked great locations that have meaning to them. One day when they're living far away they will look back on these photos and the memories will come flooding back. I love that I have a hand in that. I say it all the time...I have the best job!

Adorable, chubby cheeked Kellen is one of this year's babies...born on 1/1/11 in fact. This is the second of his baby plan sessions and at 8 months he sure did turn on the charm for his photo shoot!

Look out modeling world, here comes Morgan! We had another one of those cold, foggy mornings - odd for a California summer (unless you're in San Francisco of course!) Even though it was cold and damp, Morgan's personality and warmth comes through in this set. Modeling is tough work for a 7 year old, and she did a great job!

I met the "S" family last weekend on a foggy summer morning in San Ramon but conditions were perfect! I love their color scheme for these photos, purples and grays and blues look great together and the setting really compliments them.

It was also this little guy's first birthday on our photo session day!

She is so photogenic! I like to take a few moments to photograph just mom and dad at my sessions.

This is Danny, my latest "Baby Plan" graduate! Over the last year or so I've seen him grow from just a little baby to this sweet little boy. Every session with him has been just adorable, and this one is certainly no exception. What a handsome little guy!

In December I was contacted by the mother of these two boys with a great idea. They had planned on visiting from the east coast and wanted to gift grandma and grandpa with a photo session with all three of their grandkids for Christmas. This one has been on the books for a while! Some gifts are worth waiting for...

I love this one! Of course I also have the shot with everyone looking at the camera, but to me this one is perfect.

Sam is 13 and do his parents know how to throw a party! The day started off with the morning Bar Mitzvah ceremony at Temple Isaiah in Lafayette. And then as the sun went down the party got into full swing. Sam likes to camp and the venue was decorated in a summer camp theme which included an arts and crafts table, the cutest table decorations and sparklers to cap off the night. What a great day! A fantastic celebration for a fantastic kid.

I do nearly all newborn sessions at their homes, but this one happened to take place in my home instead. And as luck would have it, the mailman delivered this hat as we were shooting. I couldn't have asked for a better model for my new hat!

Sweet, sweet baby Scarlett was a dream to photograph at just over one week old. Once she fell asleep, not a thing could wake her up!

Her mommy got this adorable outfit on Etsy.com, my favorite online shop for props!

And her crafty aunt made these giant tissue paper flowers, which made for an adorable backdrop.

In recent weeks I've photographed both a San Francisco and an Oakland firefighter holding their tiny newborns. Yep, I love my job! Scarlett's daddy is a SF firefighter.

Daddy is an Oakland firefighter and he wore this helmet in a fire just before Cade was born. I was amazed at how comfortable Cade was tucked inside his daddy's helmet! You can see more in this series in the photo show below at the end of this post.

This adorable baby boy is Kellen, #3 for the "P" family. This 4-month session was done at his home, which is where I do most baby sessions at this age since they're not sitting up just yet. It makes it nice and comfortable for all. I love how they grab their toes at this age!

This one cracks me up. The kids look adorable...but Jack the dog is like a ghost in the background. Some may have photoshopped him out, but I love it! And look, Jack is even smiling!

I just LOVE this session! I originally scheduled this maternity session for sunset in a gorgeous park setting. Well, like it's happened so many times this season, the forecast did not cooperate. So on a gloomy Tuesday afternoon we switched up the plans and did a home session. I am SO happy we did!

A short break in the rain allowed for some great back yard photos!
